Check the engine of the used XCMG excavator
The engine is one of the most important parts of a used excavator.
Before purchase, buyers should ask for a cold start video. A cold start can show the machine condition better than a video after the engine is already warm.
Check if the engine starts smoothly. Listen for abnormal noise. Watch the exhaust smoke.
Heavy black smoke, white smoke, hard starting, or unstable idle may mean possible engine problems.
Check the hydraulic system
For an excavator, hydraulic performance decides the real working power.
Ask for a working video showing the boom, arm, bucket, swing, and travel movement.
The movement should be smooth and strong. If the machine moves slowly, shakes too much, or feels weak when digging, the hydraulic pump, valves, cylinders, or hoses may need repair.
Also check for oil leakage around hydraulic cylinders, hoses, pumps, and joints.
Check the undercarriage

Buyers should check the track shoes, chain, rollers, idlers, sprockets, and track tension.
A used excavator may still look good from the outside, but a badly worn undercarriage can bring high repair cost later.

Do not trust working hours only

But working hours are not everything.
A machine with lower hours but poor maintenance may be worse than a machine with higher hours but good condition.
Buyers should check the hour meter together with engine condition, hydraulic performance, undercarriage wear, appearance, and test videos.
The real condition is more important than only one number.

For overseas buyers, clear photos and videos are very important before shipment.

Confirm loading and shipment
A used excavator is heavy equipment. Loading should also be checked carefully.
Before shipment, confirm the machine size, weight, bucket, spare parts, documents, and loading method.
If the machine is shipped by container, some parts may need to be removed. If it is shipped by flat rack or bulk vessel, the fixing and protection should be confirmed.
Good loading preparation can reduce damage and delay.
